CURRICULUM VITAE

Suus Kooijman, born in Stoutenburg (the Netherlands) initially completed her nursing education before enrolling in the Utrecht school of  the Arts, where she pursued her studie in art.The works of Kooijman evoke various associations such as memories, transience, but also insignificance and melancholy. In an atmosphere of poetic stillness, the artist combines her love for aesthetic objects with everyday life. The works in beeswax translate into abstract pieces. her inspiration lies in making the everyday visible illuminating its beauty and meaning in a striking manner.

Her most  recent abstract pieces are crafted from plaster gilded with gold leaf. The light captured within them reflects and revels the rich lowland of the surface. With patient precision, she works on the objects to achieve a softness that blurs the original hardness of the plaster. Her ongoing quest for material, form, and texture remains constantly in flux
